The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has officially announced that the 2025 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for school candidates is scheduled to take place from July to August 2025.This information aligns with the academic calendar released by the Ghana Education Service (GES) for the 2024–2025 academic year. 



Traditionally, the WASSCE for school candidates is conducted between May and June. However, in recent years, the examination schedule has been adjusted due to various factors, including the global COVID-19 pandemic. The shift to a July/August timeline for 2025 is part of ongoing efforts to realign Ghana's academic calendar with that of other WAEC member countries.

It's important to note that while the GES has proposed these dates, WAEC has yet to release the official examination timetable, registration fees, and other pertinent details for the 2025 WASSCE. Students are advised to stay updated by regularly consulting official communications from both the GES and WAEC.

In the meantime, final-year Senior High School (SHS) students are encouraged to focus diligently on their studies, as the examination period is approximately six months away. Maintaining consistent study habits and seeking clarification on challenging topics can significantly enhance performance.

For private candidates interested in taking the WASSCE, WAEC has opened registration for the 2025 WASSCE for Private Candidates, First Series.The registration period runs until January 8, 2025, with the examination scheduled from January 24 to February 15, 2025. This provides an opportunity for individuals aiming to improve their grades or obtain the certificate outside the regular school system.

As the examination date approaches, it's crucial for all candidates to stay informed about any updates or changes. Regularly visiting the official WAEC website and maintaining communication with school authorities can ensure that candidates have the most accurate and up-to-date information.
